Florence capital city of Tuscany
Florence is the capital city of the Tuscany region; it is situated in the north-central part of Italy, on the way between Rome and Milan. Florence lies on the banks of the River Arno, in a valley surrounded by hills, and it is known all over the world as the city of art, the center of Renaissance, and one of the most important centers of literary and scientific culture.
Firenze being located in the heart of the Tuscany region is less than one hour of car away from towns like Pisa, Siena, Lucca, Arezzo, San Gimignano, Cortona, and the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The river Arno is spanned by the famous Ponte Vecchio, the only of Florence’s bridges not destroyed during the Second World War.
