Rome Italy

Rome, the Eternal City, is one of Europe’s most ancient towns, dating back almost 3,000 years. Rome was the capital of the ancient Roman Empire and of the modern Italian state. Rome’s early inhabitants left behind many of architectural masterpieces, including the massive Colosseum, the Vatican, many villas, and parks.

St. Peter's Square

Temples, churches, and residences all will left you astonished. Such is the scale and magnitude of the city that you will not be able to fathom the beauty and grandeur of this Italian capital city on a short trip.

For almost six centuries, Rome was one of the largest and certainly the most powerful and glamorous of the cities of the western world. The decline started in the 3rd century, where the first sign of weakness was the construction of the Aurelian Walls , and continued in the 4th and 5th centuries, when the capital of the Roman Empire was moved away from Rome. Even 2,000 years after it was built, and despite centuries when the abandoned building was pillaged for building materials, it is instantly recognizable. In Rome was built the first permanent amphitheatre, and the most impressive arena the Classical world had yet seen. The centuries peel back with each new vista in this great city of gladiators, lunatic drivers, and well-rounded pasta posteriors.

Romulus&Remus

According to legend, Rome was founded by Romulus and Remus in 753 B.C., first it was the center of the Roman Republic, then of the Roman Empire, and it became the capital of the Christian world in the 4th century. Its ruined antique monuments, many of them concentrated near the former Roman Forum, represent a point of reference for a city that has undergone many transformations through the Imperial, Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods, producing in the process an archeological record of amazing density that matches the richness of the history and legends.

The Colosseum, this great amphitheater in the centre of Rome was built to give favors to successful legionnaires and to celebrate the glory of the Roman Empire. Its design concept still stands to this very day, and virtually every modern sports stadium some 2,000 years later still bears the irresistible imprint of the Colosseum’s original design.

Colosseum

Rome is one of the most visited cities in Italy, and for good reason. Rome Italy is a synonym to find some of the most famous ancient sites in the world, as well as fast-paced nightlife, exciting shopping and great food. The emotionally inspiring works of Michelangelo, the spiritual allure of the Vatican and the timeless impression of the Colosseum are just three reasons why Rome is such an esteemed and highly revered tourist destination.

In the last decades Rome was known for Vespas, nippy little Fiats and red sports cars speed past trendy sidewalk bistros and nightclubs, as Rome we can see in Fellini’s La Dolce Vita.
