The sun is the essential attraction in Sorrento, and some of the beaches are great. You'll find that the best beaches are private, so you'll need to pay to use them, but if you're here to sunbathe then you won't mind. Like any good maritime town, Sorrento is also a great place to try out a couple of water sports, including sailing and fishing. Away from the water's edge, there's a cathedral and monastery in Sorrento worth visiting, and a handful of nice museums and galleries and even some Roman ruins to explore. The point of a travel to to Sorrento, though, is not a jammed cultural travel plan - it's a relaxing place to soak in the sun and try out the local liqueur, limoncello. Not a bad way to go, really.

There isn't other things to do in Positano, aside from enjoying the views and the sun. The beach in Positano is the main attraction, followed closely by the boutique shopping that you'll find all around the harbor. A longer rest in Positano is also a great advice if you want to make day-trips to adjacent Naples, the islands of Capri or Ischia, or Pompeii and Herculaneum. Whatever you do, you'll want to take life easy here - Positano is meant to be enjoyed, and you can't do that in a hurry. Oh, and remember that cities like Positano along Italy's coasts get filled with inland Italians on holiday in August, so you might want to steer clear of it then.

There's really only one big reason masses come to Pisa, and that's to see the well-known leaning tower. Thankfully it's very close to the main train station, so you can drop off your handbags in a locker and hop on a bus for the short drive to the plain square about the Pisa's leaning tower and church. The Leaning Tower in Pisa is really just the bell tower for the close cathedral, which is quite awesome in its own right. Tours of the cathedral and the baptistery (behind the church) are recommended, and inexpensive in comparison to the tower itself. The tower is sometimes open for climbing and sometimes not, counting on its stability, and it's a good idea to book tickets beforehand if you're hoping to climb it.

Numerous people say that things get more bizarre the further south you go in Italy and Naples, south of Rome, is a great city to discover yourself if that is true. This is a big and crowded city with some of the most helter-skelter traffic in Europe, but it’s on the brink of the Mount Vesuvius volcano and also so crowded with history that you won’t have to concern about getting bored here. Naples is legendary for pickpockets and other trivial criminals however, so caution and common sense should be used.

There are a few hostels in Milan and the usual assortment of hotels in Milan as well. Finding a cheap bed might be more challenging than getting one at one of the hotels in Rome, but if you start your planning in advance enough you should have no problems. Prices tend to be very high for the business-oriented hotels, but during slow times of year these same rooms can be very cheap.
